A fantastic job opportunity to work client-side job for a global technology company, offering remote/home working with minimal travel across Europe. The client is looking for an experienced Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to join their data centre engineering design review team.

The Geotechnical Engineer must have a background in soil contamination assessment. Data Centre project experience is ideal, but not essential.

Although this position is offered on a contract day rate, it is only to be viewed as a long-term secure role which comes with a 1-month notice period.  

Duties:

  • Serve as an in-house technical resource on all aspects of Geotechnical Engineering for Data Centre projects across EMEA & APAC.
  • Provide technical assistance to multiple internal clients on a wide variety of topics in the areas of civil and geotechnical engineering.
  • Prepare and provide various types of documents, including scope of work (SOWs) statements, conceptual schematic designs, design specifications, construction specifications, drawing markups, total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, budget estimates, schedules, acceptance documents, and review and acceptance of as-builts and submittals.
  • Conduct reviews of and critique geotechnical reports, design memoranda, design solutions, construction drawings, and other relevant project documents.
  • Actively assist project teams and provide input pertaining to risks/hazards and possible limitations of the proposed site.
  • Proactively identify and collaborate to address gaps in program-level guidance and specifications.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource with experience in the analysis, construction, and evaluation of geotechnical engineering projects in the areas of site characterization, analysis and design, construction, risk identification, and remediation of subsurface conditions for structure foundations, earth retaining structures, earthwork, cut/fill slopes and embankments, and other geotechnical features.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Ideally a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree in civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from an accredited/recognised college or university.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in applying Civil / Geotechnical Engineering principles, methods, practices, standards, and/or procedures to evaluate geotechnical engineering features at the project delivery level.
  • Knowledgeable of compliance requirements of pertinent codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to generate conceptual schematic drawings, SOW statements, and budget estimates.
  • A background in soil contamination assessment
  • Able to demonstrates a strong proficiency in design, construction, operation, and risk mitigation construction experience in the areas of complex and mission critical facilities. 
  • Ideally direct experience with the development of program level guidance, including scope of works for site characterization and risk identification, minimum design requirements, ground improvement, construction specifications, mitigation of problematic ground conditions, and quality control / assurance.
  • Competent with compliance requirements of pertinent codes, regulations, and standards
